Sorry, had to do that.

I thought he gave a brooch to Asahi too...although I could be wrong. Let me double-check later. |

I recently noticed something--okay, not recently but I never got around to posting it because I kept on forgetting.

Anyway, remember Narita? Something's really weird about her Because Shimofusa is a section of Narita in the Chiba prefecture of Japan. But when I use the Japanese Wiki page her name is actually Narita Shimofusa or something. Either Koge-Donbo has a really ironic name sense, or...I have no idea. I used Google Translate to translate her section of the Japanese Wikipedia page.(I made it into smoother English btw. Translations from Google will never be this good!)
Born in the Chiba Prefecture. She is half Japanese, half Russian. She hints that she knows about Takenomaru, the angels and the other stuff.
I sense some serious irony in this. Born in the Chiba prefecture. WOW, Koge-Donbo.
The original Japanese text was this:
千葉県出身。
ロシア人と日本人とのハーフ。
竹之丸を知っている上、天使との関係をほのめかす怪しい少女。 |

Thanks alot for scanlating this manga. I just started reading this today and became a fan of it right away, so much, so that I just had to convey my gratitude to Syuura for working on this manga as their project. I mean it has everything that I love in manga, romance, thrill, mystery, and best of all it isnt a Shoujo. As its rare to find Shounens/Seinens with romance as well as mystery/action/thrill but since I dont like Shoujos I have to make do with Seienens/Shounens and be happy with the little romance in them. So I am really looking forward to chapter 5. I want to read the spoilers posted here as its s tempting, but I will resist the temptation for now and wait for the 5th chapter to be released. Hope it comes out soon.
Thanks |

lol what
I'd maybe go with 'ironic naming sense', though. Most of the surnames in Kamikarin plus the name of the school are taken from names of train stations or something. _________________ ahahahaha |

I actually had a thought (with the help of the Japanese Wiki, of course lol) that most--if not all--of the characters names were of a Japanese prefecture/city, etc. Found this sort of hilarious, thinking from the start that sensei was going to somehow add a parody of some sort into the series... Buuuuuuut seeing what direction this manga is heading, I think it's kind of too late for any of that lol.
Speaking of direction headings, anyone saw the latest strip sensei put up on the Pavane webpage? _________________

Hey! I just read volume 2 chapter 1 of this and...
| Quote: | | Does Rumoi really have Savant Syndrome or something like that? This manga is in the end of the Meiji era, right? Savant syndrome wasn't actually named or discovered until the early 1940's, right? |
I'm confused. But I loved this chapter so far! |

(I'm not putting this in spoiler tags because I think most of the people who lurk here should have read the chapter by now, and this thread IS practically like the "recent chapter discussion" ;D If you think it belongs in spoiler tags then just tell me~~)
Actually, the term Savant Syndrome was first used in 1887, not 1940. Doctor J. Langdon Down named it. You may have mistaken it with autism, which is related to Savant Syndrome. People with Savant Syndrome either also have autism, or another medical condition. (found that off Wikipedia XDD)
I was really interested by the character profiles. Thing is, Nakae is from Miyagi and Takenomaru is from Kanagawa. The prefectures aren't all too close to each other. Unless I missed something (which is actually...quite possible), it seems weird that those two are childhood friends. Huh. Unless Sagami-sensei originally lived in Kanagawa and he then moved to Tokyo. Weird.
Asahi Nanba is a singing doll who is not human. That surprised me. A lot.
| spoiler about Asahi wrote: | | I think at one point Takenomaru gave her a brooch though, in some other volume o_o |
And...Misaki's character profile. "Angel wings", "mysterious"...dude. That just totally points to "MISHA REBORN AS A HUMAN."
Although, the more I thought about this, the more I came up with this ridiculous theory. Here it is if you guys want to hear it. It is TOTALLY ridiculous though XDD
| Random's crazy theory about Misaki wrote: | | So I think (ish) that Misha got turned into a human, lost her memories, and became Misaki. And Sasha is the angel who made the contract to Takenomaru. Sasha's going to use the Tears of Maria to turn Misaki/Misha back into an angel and get her memories back. Although it is...an odd theory. Because Misaki has a brooch, although we haven't seen anything happen to it. |
Hmm...Chigusa lost her memories. But it's like she has a sixth sense, because she said "the brooch has a scent of death". Weeird~~
Oh, and this is kind of unimportant, but Syuura's scan spelled Sagano Ukyo's name as "Ukyou" not "Ukyo". It appears that "Ukyo" is the actual spelling since on the random wallpapers found Koge's blog it says "Sagano Ukyo".
Kay I'm going to end this uber long post o__o _________________

The part is clarified in ch.6. It's probably not technically a spoiler but it does have contain general information about ch.6 so I'll place it as a spoiler just in case.
| Volume 2 Ch.6 wrote: | | Take has a flashback in ch.6 which is about him and Sagami-sensei and takes shortly after the flashback in ch.3 & 4, i.e. after he made the contract. In the flashback, Sagami-sensei and Take are in Yokohama, which is located in the Kanagawa prefecture. The Sendai Military base where Take previously lived, along with Nakae, is located in the Miyagi prefecture, so presumably Sagami-sensei took Take and left the Sendai Military Base and they returned Yokohama, which makes sense as Sagami-sensei is from the Kanagawa prefecture and he was only visiting the Sendai Military Base. Perhaps Sagami-sensei and Take moved to Tokyo after Sagami-sensei lost his arm in the Russo-Japanese war and left the army. So technically Take is from the Miyagi prefecture (and was presumably born there), but Koge Donbo wrote down Kanagawa instead since he also lived there before coming to Tokyo. |

Hmm... let's see how I should explain this... I've checked the raws "Ukyou" is correct technically since that's what actually written on the page, but in a general sense both "Ukyou" and "Ukyo" are correct. I can't think of any English analogies I can use as an example, but it's common for "u" to be left out when translating from Japanese to English in certain cases, i.e. when it follows a "kyo", since the pronunciation of both "Ukyo" and "Ukyou" are the same. Like the name "Kyou" is usually just spelt "Kyo" in English and the furigana reading of "Tokyo" is actually "Tokyou" in Japanese. So the "u" can left out in the English translation, but it can't be left out when it's in Japanese. I hope that clarifies it for you, my explanation is probably pretty dodgy since I'm not very good at explaining technicalities of Japanese, Anna or somebody else might be able to explain it better ^^;;
When I first started working on vol.2 a while ago, I began thinking that Koge Donbo just wanted an excuse test out a student x teacher relationship in her manga but didn't want to do it outright so kinda cheated which is why we ended up with the Mine arc =X _________________
